The Customer

Leading automotive manufacturing players in the industry

The customer is one of the leading automotive manufacturing players in the industry. With manufacturing units spread across the globe, it was a great experience for team Torque to work with them and delight them with great customer experience.

The Problem

The customer had to remove spacers from the running line due to payload issues

Removing equipment from the running line is a challenging task. The customer had to remove spacers from the running line due to payload issues, causing slow robot speeds and frequent overload alarms, leading to production delays. Additionally, they aimed to increase part production by reducing line cycle times. Torque as a team took the challenge and started working on it with all the dedication and enthusiasm.

Approach Taken

To eliminate the robot from the existing line without impacting production

To remove the spacer, we first checked the robot’s reachability by simulating the process. After generating a new TCP value, we shared the data with the customer. Upon receiving approval, we went to the site and, with the assistance of a mechanical expert, removed the spacer, modified the dress pack, and reinstalled the payload without the spacer. To achieve the required cycle time, we optimized the path, removed unnecessary rotations, and advanced the zones accordingly.

Results Achieved

The work has been completed within the required cycle time

The project was successfully implemented and the proved out as per required cycle time and continuously line is running smoothly due to these activity number of production has increased.
